Static and dynamic QR codes, explained

The difference lies in what the code contains and whether a hosted service sits between the scanner and the destination.

Static content

A static code stores your URL, contact details or text. The printed modules stay the same and there is no management account involved. Valid QR Scan creates static codes.

Hosted redirects

A dynamic code generally stores a service URL that redirects to a managed destination. Changing that mapping requires a backend, persistent storage and controls to prevent abuse. It can introduce availability, tracking and privacy dependencies.

Choose a stable address

If you control a web address, a static code can link to a page whose contents you update. This changes what visitors see, not the data stored in the code. Never assume a printed code is editable by itself.

Try the scanner, generator or QR checker. Your images and QR payloads are processed locally.

Install Valid QR Scan

In your browser menu, choose “Install app” or “Add to Home Screen”. On iPhone or iPad, open Share, then Add to Home Screen. In Safari on Mac, use File, then Add to Dock.

Visit once online and wait for “Offline tools ready”. Scanning and generation can then work without a connection. Opening a web destination still needs internet.
