How to create a QR code for a PDF

A document QR code contains a link to a PDF; it does not contain the document itself.

Host the PDF first

Place your document on a website or file host with a stable public URL. Test the link in a private browser window to ensure it does not require your sign in.

Generate and test

Paste the address into the PDF generator. Download the code, scan it on a separate device and confirm the expected document opens. Opening the document requires internet.

Keep the address stable

If you own the hosting, replace the document at the same URL to keep using the printed code. If the URL changes, you need a newly printed code. This tool does not provide file hosting.

Try the scanner, generator or QR checker. Your images and QR payloads are processed locally.

Install Valid QR Scan

In your browser menu, choose “Install app” or “Add to Home Screen”. On iPhone or iPad, open Share, then Add to Home Screen. In Safari on Mac, use File, then Add to Dock.

Visit once online and wait for “Offline tools ready”. Scanning and generation can then work without a connection. Opening a web destination still needs internet.
